ParkMate — Privacy Policy

About ParkMate

ParkMate is an Android app that alerts you when you park in a privately enforced (Parking Charge Notice) car park in the UK and reminds you before your free or paid parking time runs out. It is developed and published by BH Apps ("we", "us").

Location data

ParkMate uses your device's location, while detection is switched on, to work out whether you have entered or left a car park in its database. All location processing happens entirely on your device. Your location is never transmitted to us or to any third party, never stored on a server, and never sold or shared. When you turn detection off or close the app (background detection is off by default), no location is collected.

Notifications

The app schedules local notifications on your device (for example, "leave by" reminders). These are generated and delivered on the device only.

Data we receive

We do not operate accounts, analytics, or advertising in ParkMate, and we receive no personal data from the app. The app periodically downloads its car-park database from our public GitHub repository; this is an ordinary web request that does not include your location or identity beyond your IP address, which we do not see or store (the request is served by GitHub — see GitHub's privacy statement).

Third-party links

The Settings screen contains an optional link to our Ko-fi page for tips. Opening it takes you to ko-fi.com, which has its own privacy policy.

Car park database

The app's database describes car parks (locations, operators, typical stay terms), not people. Parts of it are derived from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). Entries may be incomplete or out of date — on-site signage is always the authoritative record of a car park's terms, and ParkMate alerts are reminders, not legal advice.

Children

ParkMate is a driving utility and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date.
